Who we are

TYF Dance Company is a contemporary dance collective rooted in curiosity, community, and catharsis. We are a volunteer-based company fueled by a shared passion for movement that explores, provokes, and liberates. TYF stands for Trust Your Fascinations, which is the philosophy of the company–follow your ambitions and trust in what creates that spark within.

Our work centers around the endless possibilities of the human body. We dive into the textures, qualities, and dynamics of movement not as a means to perfect form, but to discover how motion can express, unsettle, excite, and soothe—how it can be both intensely personal and radically universal. While narrative and emotional expression play a role, our choreography often emerges from an intuitive process: trusting the movements that captivate us, no matter how unconventional.

We are committed to making dance accessible and present in everyday life. Whether through film, reels, or spontaneous performances in public spaces, we create experiences that invite curiosity and connection. Our stages are city parks, sidewalks, online platforms—anywhere people are open to watching.

TYF is also a home—a collaborative space where dancers are encouraged to bring their individual voices, backgrounds, and fascinations. Together, we explore themes of liberation, identity, perception, mental health, and bodily politics. Every member of TYF is both a contributor and a resource; we support each other within the company and beyond, believing that our collective strength lies in the authenticity and passion each artist brings.

Our mission is not to dictate meaning, but to hold space for movement that captivates. We aim to reach dancers, artists, thinkers, and everyday people—anyone willing to engage, reflect, and feel. TYF is a reminder: when we trust what draws us in, when we move from our fascinations, we create something powerful—together.
